Participating in the Delta Dilemma
There is a serious shortage of young people who want a career in the water sector. To get young people interested in training or a career in the water sector, the northern water boards and northern provinces are joining forces. In collaboration with IVN, they commission the Delta Dilemma every year. This R&D (Research & Design) assignment, with a festive kick-off in each province, takes place at the beginning of the school year and is for grades 3 and 4 of the technasium.
What exactly is the Delta Dilemma?
In the Delta Dilemma project, technical high school students in the three northern provinces are investigating how we in the Netherlands can deal with water in a changing climate. They are looking at real water challenges that arise in areas in their neighborhood and coming up with real solutions. They are also learning about the importance of soil management.
During the project, young people step into the shoes of water and soil experts. Denk water experts, ecologists, civil engineers, urban planners, and social geographers. They discover what these people do, why their work is important, and how they contribute to a safe and livable Netherlands.
The Delta Dilemma is a collaboration between multiple parties closely involved in water management and soil management in the northern Netherlands.
