Learning about water

The Noorderzijlvest Water Authority offers free guest lectures and teaching materials for schools in our area. We are happy to talk about the work of the water authority and offer free excursions for both young people and adults.

Teaching materials

For students aged 10 to 16, we offer teaching packages and materials for use in the classroom. We also have online teaching materials for primary schools, secondary schools, and vocational schools.

Guest lectures

We are happy to give guest lectures in classrooms within our area about our water management tasks and about climate and sustainability. We can also give guest lectures on location in consultation with you.

School assignments

We are happy to help with an assignment or presentation about water, or your profile assignment or master's thesis. Find ideas for topics, information images, and useful websites here.

Water board as client

The Noorderzijlvest Water Authority can be the client for research and design assignments for secondary education. We already offer various assignments. We are also open to new ideas.

Lectures and excursions

We can provide lectures on our water management activities for various groups, associations, and foundations. We can also give guided tours. We offer a city walk and cycling routes through our working area. 

Field trips

We offer various excursions for school classes or groups of interested parties. We are also open to ideas for visiting locations and projects.

Water heritage

The landscapes of Groningen, Friesland, and Drenthe tell the story of the people of the northern Netherlands. This story spans thousands of years. An important part of this story is the battle against water.
