Our climate is changing. And that has far-reaching implications. We are increasingly facing long periods of heat, low precipitation, and drought, as well as downpours and flooding caused by prolonged rain. Climate change requires a joint effort by governments, businesses, and residents.

We are doing our best to adapt to climate change. These changes are happening faster than they used to. So we have to adapt. We’re doing that in all sorts of ways.

Droge Voeten (Dry feet) 2050

The Droge Voeten (Dry Feet) 2050 project examined what measures we need to take to limit flooding by 2050. The provincial executives and water authorities are jointly responsible for implementing these measures.

Cluster showers and flooding

If there is a lot of rainfall in a short period of time, flooding can occur. We do our best to limit this, but that is not always possible. Flooding can be caused by heavy rain, downpours, or high groundwater levels.

Sustainable working methods

We want to do our part to help prevent climate change as much as possible. That’s why we use energy wisely and operate as sustainably as possible.

CO2 policy

Our goal is to become climate neutral. This means that the energy we use will be balanced by the energy we generate ourselves in a sustainable manner.

The circular water authority

Noorderzijlvest Water Authority is committed to a circular economy. Many raw materials are scarce and finite. That is why we want to reuse these materials as much as possible.

Water innovation

We are always looking for new ways to do our work better, more cost-effectively, and more sustainably. For us, innovation is not an end in itself. It is a means to achieve our goals.
