The organization
With over 300 people, we work with water every day. We do this for the people. Collaboration with residents and other organizations is becoming increasingly important.
Around 120 of our more than 300 colleagues work visibly in the field or are employed at our treatment plants and in our workshops. Approximately 180 people work at our head office in Groningen to prepare sustainable water management. To be ready for climate change. To work towards a world in which water plays a leading role. And to contribute to the plans of others. Because we can no longer work on water alone, nor do we want to. We desperately need our environment. To keep our work feasible and affordable.
Core tasks
We work on the basis of our core tasks to provide safe, clean, healthy, purified, and sufficient water.
Meanwhile, the work of the water authority is changing. There is more to it than just our important core tasks:
- We seize opportunities to create added value for the entire living environment of our residents and entrepreneurs. Even when it's not just about water.
- We are a valued partner for other government agencies, interest groups, nature reserve managers, farmers, neighboring water boards, drinking water companies, and the business community.
- We know the water in our working area. Our residents know the area just as well. We are increasingly discussing the role of water and its impact on daily life.
- We do not only consider technical solutions for water management. We are increasingly focusing on the natural values of the area to develop sustainable and robust water management solutions. This sometimes means that technical intervention remains necessary.
We are working on a future-proof area: with robust work on water, with customization, and with each other.
