Water situation

How dry and how wet is it now? What are the expectations? And what is the water authority doing to ensure enough water in every season: not too much and not too little? In the water situation, you can read about the current state of affairs in our region.

The water situation deals with the amount of expected precipitation and the supply and discharge of water.

Key points

  • Unlike other parts of the Netherlands, our region saw little precipitation during the first weekend of May.
  • As a result, our precipitation deficit is slightly higher than the national average.
  • We supply water from lake IJsselmeer to both Groningen and Drenthe.
  • Despite the drought, there is still sufficient surface water. No additional water management measures are needed at this time.
