Delfzijl dike crossings closed Friday morning due to high water levels
On Friday morning, January 2, we will be dealing with high tide at sea. Rijkswaterstaat predicts a water level of NAP +3.00 meters around 9:50 a.m. This means that we will be closing the dike passages (coupures) in Delfzijl.
Start closure
We will start closing the harbor at 6:50 a.m. on Friday. This will result in the temporary closure of the port of Delfzijl. Traffic will be diverted. Once the water has receded sufficiently, the roads will be reopened.
Closure at NAP +3m or higher
The dike passages in Delfzijl always close when the expected sea level is NAP +3 meters or higher. The water level of NAP +3.00 meters is expectedon Friday morning around 9:50 a.m. The protocol is to close the dike passages three hours in advance. We carry out the closure together with our colleagues from the Hunze en Aa’s Water Authority.
