Dijkdoorgangen Delfzijl to close tonight due to high tide at sea
During the night of Thursday 19 to Friday 20 December, we will be dealing with high tides at sea. Rijkswaterstaat expects a water level of NAP +3.00 meters at Delfzijl at 2:30 a.m. This means that we will be closing the dike passages (coupures) in Delfzijl to prevent flooding.
We will start closing the harbor at 11:30 p.m. tonight. This will result in the temporary closure of the port of Delfzijl. Traffic will be diverted using signs. Once the water has receded sufficiently and the road is clear of water, the roads will be reopened.
We close the dike passages in Delfzijl when the expected sea level is NAP +3.00 meters or higher. The water level of NAP +3.00 meters is expected on Friday night at 2:30 a.m. We always close the dike passages three hours in advance. We close the passages together with our colleagues from the Hunze en Aa's Water Authority.
