Delfzijl dike passages closed again due to high water levels
During the night of Sunday, February 6 to Monday, February 7, we will once again be dealing with high tide at sea. Rijkswaterstaat predicts a water level of NAP +3.20m in Delfzijl at around 3:50 a.m. This means that the dike passages (coupures) in Delfzijl will be closed.
Closure of cuts on Sunday evening
We will start closing the roads at midnight on Sunday evening. This means that the port of Delfzijl will be temporarily closed. Traffic will be diverted using signs. Once the water has receded sufficiently and the road is clear of water, the roads will be reopened. The closures in Delfzijl always take place when the expected sea level is NAP + 3m or higher. We carry out these closures in collaboration with our colleagues from the Hunze en Aa’s water board.
Multiple closures
This is the third closure of the dike passages at Delfzijl in the past 10 days. Last weekend, the passages were closed for two consecutive cycles due to high water levels. This happened again last week. The cause is a persistent wind from the (north)west.
