Your rights

When you submit your request, it is important that we can verify your identity. This ensures that only you can request your data. To do this, we ask you to:

  • Send us a copy of your ID. Your name and date of birth must be clearly legible. You may obscure your citizen service number (BSN).
  • State the purpose of your request on the copy, for example, the deletion of your data.

What can you expect from us?

If you wish to exercise your rights, you will receive a response within one month. In some cases, the response period may be extended by up to two months. However, you will always receive a response to your question, report, or complaint.

Duties and responsibilities of the water authority

  • We have a duty to treat your personal data with care and confidentiality and to protect it in the best possible way against unauthorised access (hackers) or unlawful use.
  • Your personal data will not be used for any other purposes.
  • In cases where we are required to do so, we will inform you of the use of your data and, where necessary, we will ask for your consent before your personal data is processed.
  • We take the necessary security measures and apply security procedures to protect your personal data. Employees of the water authority have a duty of confidentiality. Access to personal data is only granted to authorised employees.
  • We do not retain your personal data any longer than necessary for the proper performance of our tasks and compliance with statutory obligations, as set out in the Public Records Act, the General Data Protection Regulation, or other relevant legislation.
  • We will not disclose your personal data to other organisations without your consent, unless the water authority is authorised or obliged to do so on the basis of a statutory provision.
  • Your personal data will not be processed or stored outside the European Union.
