Update: announced closure of Delfzijl cuts will NOT go ahead

The closure of the coupures (dike passages) in Delfzijl announced earlier this morning has been canceled. The port area remains accessible as normal.

Revised water level forecast

Rijkswaterstaat informs the water board that the expected water level at sea around noon will be NAP+ 2.85 meters. This is below the standard of NAP+ 3.00 meters, at which point the sluices normally close. This means that the planned closure from 9:00 a.m. this morning is not necessary.
The water board remains alert. It cannot be ruled out that the floodgates will have to close in the course of the coming days.
