Update: Delfzijl dike passages reopened, dike monitoring stopped
The dike passages at Delfzijl are open again and dike surveillance has been discontinued. Yesterday, Thursday, December 21, at 2:00 p.m., we closed the dike passages in Delfzijl due to high tide at sea. We conducted full dike surveillance both last night and this morning. As a precaution, we inspected the sea dike from Lauwersoog to Delfzijl. During the last inspection round, we did not find any abnormalities. There was no damage to the dike.
The highest water level measured was NAP + 04.02 meters at the De Drie Delfzijlen pumping station. This was measured at around 7:00 this morning. The water level has now dropped significantly and we have reopened the dike passages. The roads have also been reopened. The cycle path will remain closed until the water there has receded.
