Tonight, dike surveillance due to high water levels

On Thursday, December 21, and Friday, December 22, we will be dealing with high tides at sea. Rijkswaterstaat predicts a water level of NAP +4.60 meters (measuring point Delfzijl) on Friday morning around 6:00 a.m. We are responding to this by closing the dike passages at Delfzijl and conducting full dike surveillance. We are doing this as a precaution and in connection with water safety.

Our dike teams will start full dike surveillance tonight at 3 a.m. Several teams will be deployed to inspect the dike. We will be looking in particular for any debris that has washed ashore and could damage the dike. We will take measures where necessary. Full dike surveillance always takes place when the expected water level is NAP +3.80m.

Noorderzijlvest monitors the sea dike from Lauwersoog to Delfzijl. For safety reasons, we ask everyone to refrain from visiting the dike. Any updates will be posted on our website and social media channels.
