Earthquakes

We conduct additional inspections following earthquakes measuring 3 or higher on the Richter scale. We then investigate whether the earthquake has caused cracks in dykes quays. We also check for damage to pumping stations, locks, or bridges that water authority (still) the responsibility of the water authority . Not all damage is visible. That is why we conduct ongoing follow-up investigations to identify any invisible damage topumping stations, locks, and pressure pipes (which transport large quantities of wastewater underground).  

Sensors have been installed at a few locations in the sea dyke in the Eemskanaalkade. These are used to measure vibrations in the dyke.
