Arthur - Doorman purification Garmerwolde
"Actually, I'm a jack of all trades, an organizer. At the water board, you can seize opportunities and develop yourself. I started here as a temporary worker, as an assistant to the doorman. Now I'm the doorman myself and I do a lot more. I'm still responsible for access policy at the sewage treatment plant in Garmerwolde, but I also provide safety instructions and keep track of waste streams. And recently, I've also been able to call myself a process coach.
‘I am the face of the water board’
Varied work
That variety in my work is what makes it fun. In Garmerwolde, people know me as the face of the water board. I open the door, answer the phone, and supervise interns. At head office, I help optimize processes. For example, we are currently looking at how we can improve our financial administration.

‘By combining experience and a fresh perspective, you arrive at better solutions.’
I talk about all kinds of things. The water board is a flat organization. Your opinion counts here; people listen to you. Whether you're an intern, a beginner, or an experienced employee. In my role as process coach, I deal with all levels of the organization. That sometimes requires a bit of switching gears, but I enjoy that dynamic. I love new challenges.
Close-knit team
The quality of our work is becoming increasingly important. Young people are joining us who approach things differently. It's great to see that they are also able to get some of the older generation on board. It is precisely by combining experience and a fresh perspective that you arrive at better solutions.
Our team at Garmerwolde is very friendly. We often go on outings, organize barbecues after work, have a beer together, or eat fried eggs for lunch together. We are close-knit. We are all on the same page.
Will you choose water work too?
We work together to achieve the right water balance. But we believe that a good work-life balance is just as important!Withus, you can combine meaningful work with job satisfaction and good employment conditions.
