"Actually, I'm a jack of all trades, an organiser. At the water authority, you can seize opportunities and develop yourself. I started here as a temporary worker, as an assistant to the gatekeeper. Now I'm a gatekeeper myself and I do a lot more. I'm still responsible for access policy at the wastewater treatment plant in Garmerwolde, but I also deal with safety instructions and manage the waste streams administration. Since recently, I've also been able to call myself a process coach.

Varied work
That variety in my work is what makes it enjoyable. In Garmerwolde, people know me as the face of the water authority. I open the door, answer the phone, and supervise trainees. At the head office, I help optimise processes. For example, we are currently looking at how we can improve our financial administration.

I talk about all kinds of things. The water authority is a non-hierarchical organisation. Your opinion counts here; people listen to you. Whether you're a trainee, a beginner, or an experienced employee. In my role as process coach, I deal with all levels of the organisation. There are times that requires switching gears, but I enjoy that dynamic. I love new challenges.
Close-knit team
The quality of our work is increasingly important. Young people join us and they approach things differently. It's great to see they are also able to get some of the older generation on board. It is precisely by combining experience and a fresh perspective that you arrive at better solutions.
Our team at Garmerwolde is very friendly. We often go on outings, organise barbecues after work, have a beer together, or eat fried eggs for lunch together. We are close-knit. We are all on the same page.
