Bert Wiersema is a candidate for membership of the Executive Board
The recruitment and selection process for the external member of the Executive Committee was completed with input from all coalition parties. This has led to an agreement on a single candidate. The coalition is nominating Mr. Bert Wiersema (63) as a candidate for the Executive Committee.
Background
Bert lives in Peize. He has a long track record at the University of Groningen, including roles as a member of the executive board/manager and director (Energy Academy Europe Foundation). At the national level, he was involved with the umbrella organization for Dutch universities and served as director of the Gas and Sustainability Top Sector. Internationally, he served as managing director at a scientific institute in Rome. In addition, he has the necessary experience as a chair and supervisor on executive and supervisory boards in the public sector.
Procedure
Provincial Executive the provinces of Groningen and Drenthe must grant an exemption for the appointment of an external member of the Executive Committee. At the meeting held on June 20, three members from the Board of Directors appointed to the Executive Committee: Annette van Velde (Geborgd ongebouwd-CDA-VVD coalition), Arie van Wijk (Water Natuurlijk), and Herman Beerda (PvdA). With the planned appointment of Bert Wiersema, the Executive Committee will be complete.
