Bert Wiersema is a candidate for membership of the executive committee.
The recruitment and selection process for the external member of the executive committee has been completed with input from all coalition parties. This has led to agreement on a single candidate. The coalition nominates Mr. Bert Wiersema (63) as a candidate for the executive committee.
Background
Bert lives in Peize. He has a long track record at the University of Groningen, including as a board member/manager and director (Stichting Energy Academy Europe). At the national level, he was involved in the umbrella organization of Dutch universities and as director of the top sector Gas and Sustainability. Internationally, he was active as director of administration at a scientific institute in Rome. In addition, he has the necessary experience as chairman and supervisor within boards of directors and supervisory boards in the public sector.
Procedure
The Provincial Executive of Groningen and Drenthe must grant an exemption for the appointment of an external member of the executive committee. The water board expects this exemption to be granted shortly. Subject to this exemption, the vote on Wiersema's appointment is on the agenda of the general board meeting on July 12.
At the meeting on June 20, three members from the ranks of the general board were already appointed as members of the executive committee: Annette van Velde (combination of Geborgd ongebouwd-CDA-VVD), Arie van Wijk (Water Natuurlijk), and Herman Beerda (PvdA). With the intended appointment of Bert Wiersema, the executive committee is complete.
