Final results of the 2023 water board elections
Dijkgraaf Roeland van der Schaaf, chair of the central electoral committee, has announced the final results of the 2023 water board elections for Noorderzijlvest. He did so on Thursday morning, March 23, during a public session of the central electoral committee.
Distribution of seats
There are no changes to the provisional results in terms of seat distribution. However, after counting, it appears that slightly more votes were cast than was known from the provisional results. A total of 175,700 residents cast their votes, representing a turnout of 60.1%. This is significantly higher than the 53.3% turnout in 2019.
A total of 11 parties participated in the elections. Water Natuurlijk won six seats. Newcomer BBB won four seats and the PvdA three. The CDA, ChristenUnie, Betaalbaar Water, VVD, and newcomers Student & Water and Groninger Belang all won one seat. 50PLUS and Belang van Nederland (BVNL) did not win any seats.

New board
The general board consists of 23 seats. Of the 23 seats, four are reserved. Two of these are for the nature reserves category and two for the undeveloped land category. A complete overview of the distribution of seats and the elected candidates:

Admission and installation
The current general board will decide on the final admission of the candidates to the general board. A committee from the current general board will examine the credentials of the 23 new candidate board members. If the general board approves on Monday, March 27, the newly elected board can be installed on Wednesday, March 29, during a public meeting in the AB room at the Noorderzijlvest water board headquarters.
