Dead fish in Hoornsegraft

On Saturday 27 June, we received a report of many dead fish having been spotted in the Hoornsegraft in Groningen. An enforcement officer visited the site and measured the oxygen level in the water. The oxygen level meets the requirements. The fish will be removed on Monday 29 June. 

The cause is unclear

On arrival, the water was tested on site. The oxygen level was one of the parameters that was measured. These measurements show that the oxygen level is normal. Water quality and water flow were also assessed. The deeper part of the watercourse is also clean and clear. So, at this time it is unclear what caused the fish mortality. 

Dead fish will be removed on Monday

We have contacted an outside partner to remove the fish. Due to equipment availability and scheduling, the dead fish can not be removed before Monday.
