Registering a political party for the water board elections
Would you like to run in the water board elections with your own party? If so, you must register your party’s name with the Central Election Commission at Noorderzijlvest Water Authority. The registered name will appear at the top of the list of candidates and on the ballot. The steps are briefly explained below.
Submitting Candidate Lists
After registering a political party, you can nominate candidates for the elections. To nominate candidates, you must, among other things, submit a list of candidates. Additional documents may also be required, such as:
- Declarations of consent from candidates;
- a copy of a valid form of identification;
- statements of support (for new parties);
- any authorizations.
More information about candidacy will follow once the election schedule has been finalized.
Key Moments Leading Up to the Elections
There are several important dates leading up to the water board elections. This timeline shows you what steps will take place and when they will happen. That way, you’ll know what to expect around election time.
- December 21, 2026: Deadline for registration of new parties
Would you like to run in the water board elections with a new party? If so, the party must be officially registered by this date at the latest. Parties that are already registered do not need to take any action. - February 1, 2027: Submission of candidate lists
On this day, political parties submit their candidate lists to the central election board. The lists include the candidates who will run on behalf of the party in the water board elections. After verification, the candidate lists are officially approved. - March 17, 2027: Election Day
On this day, residents cast their votes. They choose which candidates and parties will represent them for the next four years in the Board of Directors of the water authority. - March 25, 2027: Official Results of the
