Groundwater in your home or public building
Do you have groundwater issues in your home or building? This page provides information on what to do and who to contact.
How does it work?
Do you own your own home? Or do you own another building, such as commercial premises? Then you are responsible for taking measures to prevent groundwater flooding.
- You can contact the local council with any questions about groundwater.
- The local council has a legal duty of care for groundwater. If necessary, the local council will install facilities to drain excess groundwater.
- Are there problems with groundwater in or around your home, building, or property? If so, you cannot hold the local council responsible.
- Groundwater flooding can be a long-term problem. Or it can happen repeatedly. In that case, the local council will investigate the cause. Together with the owner and the water authority, the local council will prepare a plan to solve the problem.
