High water levels – water authority alert
There has been a lot of rain over the past few days. Water levels are high, so we are being extra vigilant.
We have now closed the gate in the lock at Schouwerzijl. This allows our pumping station to more effectively drain water from the southern part of our area toward Lauwersmeer. We can discharge some water into the sea, but not much. That is why we are storing a large amount of water in Lauwersmeer. Over the next few days, we will be able to gradually drain this water toward the sea.
