Quay Reinforcement on the Eems Canal Quay
This is an old message.
Since 2012, we have been reinforcing the north side of the Eems Canal embankment between Groningen and Delfzijl. Where necessary, we are also taking additional measures to protect the dyke earthquake-resistant. Much of the work has already finalised. We will prepare the final section in 2022. If possible, we also want to begin construction this year.
What still needs to be done before everything is ready?
- The sheet piles are realised between Woltersum and Appingedam.
- We are preparing the final phase of the reinforcement work. This will take place on the section between Groevesluis and Woldbrug. The reinforcement is necessary to flood defence future-proof standards for the height and stability of the flood defence . Stability is also currently below standard. We expect to launch the bidding process for this section in 2022. The plan is to begin construction this year as well.
