Quay reinforcement Eemskanaalkade

This is an old message.

Since 2012, we have been reinforcing the north side of the Eemskanaalkade between Groningen and Delfzijl. Where necessary, we are also taking additional measures to make the dike earthquake-proof. Much of the work has already been completed. We will prepare the final section in 2022. If all goes well, we also want to start implementation this year.

What still needs to be done before everything is ready?

  • The sheet piling is being anchored between Woltersum and Appingedam.
  • We are preparing the final part of the reinforcement. This will be carried out on the section between Groevesluis and Woldbrug. The reinforcement is necessary to meet future-proof standards for the height and stability of the barrier. The stability is also not currently up to standard. We expect to start the tendering procedure for this part in 2022. The intention is to start implementation this year as well.
