Come to "Our Water World" on June 27
On the last Saturday in June, you’re welcome to join us between 14:00 and 18:00 at our beach-for-one-day event at Siblu Familieparken in Lauwersoog.
Educational in a relaxed atmosphere
At this free event, we’ll celebrate the completion of three major projects in our area. You’ll also have the chance to learn more about all our water-management work in a relaxed atmosphere filled with music and culture.
With the imminent completion of the Lauwersmeer dyke–Vierhuizergat dyke reinforcement, the Nieuwe Waterwerken Zoutkamp (Zoutkamp hydraulic-engineering works) project, and the renovated and expanded wastewater treatment plant at Gaarkeuken (Westerkwartier), all the water authority's work comes together in one place. This is the perfect opportunity for us to present our efforts to make our region future-proof to the public.
On 27 June, Noorderzijlvest Water Authority organises an event on the beach near Siblu Familieparken in Lauwersoog from 14:00 to 18:00. With fun and informative activities, we’ll engage visitors of all ages in what it takes to manage safe, clean, healthy, and sufficient surface water in a climate-resilient region. This will take place in a relaxed atmosphere on a specially set-up beach for one day. The public can learn about water, enjoy music, and watch and listen to informative talks about the three nearly completed projects. Finally, around 17:30, there will be a spectacular closing act from lake Lauwersmeer and on the stage on the beach. This will emphasise the value of water and soil once more.
Directions and parking
Work is underway on the N361 provincial road. However, by exception—with special thanks to the provincial executive and the contractor—the junction of the N388 and N361 will be open to traffic from the direction of Zoutkamp on this day. Visitors from the province/region will not have to follow the full detour route through Fryslân for this occasion on 27 June. The water authority will have traffic controllers on the day.
Near the event, drivers are asked to follow the P signs along the access routes from Fryslân and Groningen to Lauwersoog: parking on the grounds of Siblu Familieparken is reserved for its own guests. Therefore, we are directing visitors to “Our Waterscape" to park at nearby sites. Shuttle services will transport the public to the event location.
Admission to Our Waterscape is free!
