Applying for a water board tax waiver
Do you have a low income? Then you may not have to pay any tax, or you may pay less. Whether you are granted remission depends on your personal situation.
Who can apply for remission?
The most important conditions you must meet in order to obtain remission are:
- You have an income at or around welfare level.
- You have little or no assets, such as savings.
- You must apply for remission within three months of paying the tax assessment.

How does it work?
You can apply for exemption from water board tax at the Northern Tax Office. The Northern Tax Office website explains what you need to apply for exemption:
How does the procedure work?
- The Northern Tax Office will make a decision within a maximum of six months and send you a notification.
- You do not need to pay while your application is being processed. If you use direct debit, payments will continue as usual.
