Collaboration on Emergency Aid
A major logistical operation has gathered all the supplies from the Netherlands over the past few days at a depot in Vriezenveen, Overijssel. From this location, trucks are transporting the supplies to the affected area under the coordination of the national government. Water Commissioner Stefan Kuks of water authority was present on behalf of the 21 Dutch water boards when the convoy departed. “As Dutch water managers, we are happy to contribute to the emergency relief efforts for this major humanitarian water disaster in Ukraine. We are doing this together with the Dutch Rescue Brigade. A massive logistical operation has been carried out over the past few days. Ideally, you’d want to act even faster to help people in need as quickly as possible. At the same time, I realize that this initiative got off the ground incredibly quickly. Within a few days, heavy equipment has been gathered from all over the Netherlands and is already being transported. Kudos to the people who have been working on this day and night over the past few days.”
