Less capacity needed for excess water drainage
With slightly less capacity than during the past Christmas week, we will continue to drain water. There is still a lot of water on its way from Drenthe to Groningen.
We will continue to pump out water during these days. However, we can do so with slightly less capacity. A lot of water is still flowing from the higher areas in Drenthe towards the lower North. This is clearly visible in De Onlanden (see photo).
On New Year's Eve, we expect another good opportunity to discharge water at Lauwersoog. From January 2-3, the wind is expected to shift to the east. This means less precipitation and favorable opportunities to discharge excess water.
Please note: this forecast is still very uncertain. We are monitoring the situation closely.
