Noorderzijlvest, HSV Veenhuizen, and Sportvisserij Groningen Drenthe sign agreement
On Thursday, February 23, an agreement was signed for the maintenance of fishing spots on the Kolonievaart in Veenhuizen.
By signing this agreement, HSV Veenhuizen, Sportvisserij Groningen Drenthe, and Waterschap Noorderzijlvest agree that the water board will perform initial maintenance once a year on the fishing spots, places where you can fish with limited equipment, such as a rod. The fishing spots will be selected in advance by volunteers from HSV Veenhuizen and a contractor or ecologist. After the initial maintenance, volunteers from HSV Veenhuizen will continue to maintain the fishing spots for the fishing season. This will allow fishing to take place at the Kolonievaart throughout the year.
The agreement was signed by Jeroen Niezen, executive board member at Waterschap Noorderzijlvest, Foppe Bergsma, chairman of HSV Veenhuizen, and Henk Mensinga, director of Sportvisserij Groningen Drenthe.
Collaboration
The creation of fishing spots has given recreational anglers more opportunities to pursue their hobby and means that fishing can take place all year round on the Kolonievaart canal in Veenhuizen. Sportvisserij Groningen Drenthe is an important partner for the water board. As a water board, we have leased all fishing rights to Sportvisserij Groningen Drenthe, which is responsible for everything related to recreational fishing. In addition, recreational fishermen assist the water board with tasks such as monitoring fish stocks for the Water Framework Directive.
