Noorderzijlvest, HSV Veenhuizen, and Sportvisserij Groningen Drenthe (Groningen Drenthe Angling Association) sign agreement
On Thursday, February 23, an agreement was signed for the maintenance of fishing spots along the Kolonievaart in Veenhuizen.
By signing this agreement, HSV Veenhuizen, Sportvisserij Groningen Drenthe, and Noorderzijlvest Water Authority that the water authority will perform initial maintenance on the fishing spots—areas where fishing is permitted using limited gear, such as a rod— water authority a year. The fishing spots will be selected in advance by volunteers from HSV Veenhuizen and a contractor or ecologist. After the initial maintenance, volunteers from HSV Veenhuizen will continue to maintain the fishing spots for the fishing season. This will allow fishing on the Kolonievaart throughout the year.
The agreement was signed by Jeroen Niezen, executive board member of Noorderzijlvest Water Authority; Foppe Bergsma, chairman of HSV Veenhuizen; and Henk Mensinga, director of Sportvisserij Groningen Drenthe.
Collaboration
The creation of these fishing spots has provided recreational anglers with more opportunities to enjoy their hobby, and fishing is now possible year-round on the Kolonievaart in Veenhuizen. Sportvisserij Groningen Drenthe is a key partner for the water authority. As water authority , we water authority fully leased the fishing rights to Sportvisserij Groningen Drenthe and thus handle all matters related to recreational fishing. In addition, the anglers assist the water authority tasks such as monitoring fish stocks for the Water Framework Directive.
