There are 21 water authorities in the Netherlands. Would you like to know which water authority covers your area?
- Go to "Which water authority covers my area?" on the waterschappen.nl website
- Select Open the postcode finder
- Enter your postcode (no space between the 4 digits and 2 letters) and you will see which water authority you're with.
Tip: the 'Open the postcode finder' option works best on your computer or laptop.
Region
Each water authority operates in a specific area, also known as a region. These areas consist of catchment areas. The flow of water determines the boundaries of a water authority. The Noorderzijlvest Water Authority operates in a large part of Groningen, north and central Drenthe, and a small part of Friesland.
