Under the name 'Nij Begun', we are working with the municipalities, water boards, and province involved on the recovery and future of Groningen as a result of gas extraction from the Groningen field.
Prospects for the region
What needs to be done to make damage claims and reinforcement milder, more humane, and easier? How can we offer young people the same opportunities that their peers elsewhere have? What is needed to offer prospects to a region that has been exploited for years? How can Groningen once again become a province where you can live, work, grow up, and grow old in good health? Nij Begun is about our future. The management and availability of our water is certainly part of that!
Together with regional authorities, residents, representatives of the people, social organizations, entrepreneurs, and the national government, we want to realize these ambitions. Although gas extraction in Groningen has a long history, we are only at the beginning of building a safe, healthy, and sustainable future together. Over the next ten years, we must make a difference for our children and the generations after us.
