Draft Water Management Program 2022-2027 available for inspection

The executive committee of the Noorderzijlvest Water Authority announces that the draft water management program will be available for inspection from July 8 through August 26, 2021.

What does a water management program contain?

Every six years, water authorities draw up a water management program. This program sets out the goals we are working towards and the main measures required for the water system, flood defences the water chain. This program runs from 2022 to 2027. In this water management program, we outline the first steps of the Blue Environmental Vision, our long-term vision. We indicate what our goals are, how we want to achieve them, why we are doing this, and who we are working with. Much of what we are going to do is laid down by law. We have determined how we will do our work by engaging in dialogue with residents and partners over the past period. We will follow up on this in the elaboration.

Water Framework Directive

Water authorities play an important role in improving water quality. The European Water Framework Directive (WFD) forms the basis for this. The measures we will be implementing within the framework of the WFD are set out in the WFD fact sheets. These are included as an appendix to the Water Management Program. The WFD fact sheets have now been made available for inspection. 

The measures are aligned with the WFD objectives set by the provinces of Drenthe and Groningen. The objectives and measures of all water managers at river basin level are included in draft river basin management plans. These will also be open for public consultation in the near future. This will be done through both provinces. Submit opinion

During this period of public inspection, interested parties may submit their views on the draft decision to the executive committee of the Noorderzijlvest Water Authority. This can be done in writing by sending a letter or email to info@noorderzijlvest.nl orby calling 050 304 8911.
The responses will be taken into account when finalizing the water management program.
