Investigation work Gorecht ponds
On February 15 and 16, the municipality of Groningen and the Noorderzijlvest water board will investigate whether there are any explosive materials from World War II in the Gorecht ponds. Last year, magnet fishermen found three pieces of war debris in the water. These were detonated elsewhere by the Explosives Clearance Service. To be on the safe side, the specialized company Armaex will investigate the ponds.
What's going to happen?
Armaex will measure the ponds. Because there is ice on the surface, this can be done using a measuring system that is pushed across the ice. This will allow Armaex to determine whether there are any more war remnants under the water. Depending on the results of the investigation, we will consider whether a follow-up step is necessary.
What impact will this have on the neighborhood?
The inspection will be carried out between 7:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. and will not cause any inconvenience. There is no danger to local residents or passers-by.
