Paterswoldsemeer water level decision finalized

On July 6, 2022, the general board of the Noorderzijlvest water authority adopted the Paterswoldsemeer water level decision.

Level decision

The Paterswoldsemeer lake is located on the south side of the city of Groningen. The lake is important for recreation, but it often contains blue-green algae and there is a lot of plant growth. In the water level decision, the water board determines the water levels in the various water level areas. The explanatory notes to this decision describe the water system, the assessment, the input from the area, the choices made, and the rationale for the water levels. The explanatory notes also describe the measures that will be taken to modify the water system.

Paterswoldsemeer Area Program Project

The Paterswoldsemeer is an important recreational area for the city of Groningen and its surroundings. In order to continue enjoying swimming and boating, we want a lake with clean water, good natural values, a wide variety of plants and animals, little blue-green algae, and without too many water plants. The water board is working on the water quality of the lake in accordance with the Water Framework Directive (WFD).
