Petition for preservation of 'Waterskaap' submitted

Over 1,200 signatures

The petition is intended to suspend the planned demolition of the commercial building on the site.
The bundle containing more than 1,200 signatures was received by dike reeve Roeland van der Schaaf and portfolio holder Herman Beerda.

Difference of opinion

The administrators and squatters stated that relations between them are good. At the same time, there are differences of opinion about the use of the site. Noorderzijlvest remains of the opinion that the site is unsafe and unsuitable for long-term occupation or for organizing all kinds of events. That is not the role of the water board.
The group of squatters hopes that a solution will be found before the preliminary relief proceedings scheduled for February 11 to keep 'Waterskaap' for longer.
Portfolio holder Beerda: "If a solution that is acceptable to all parties can be found before the scheduled date of the preliminary relief proceedings, we are of course willing to discuss it."
