Pilot project on blue-green algae in Kardingerplas
We monitor the quality of the bathing water from April 1 to October 1. We do not know how the water quality changes from October to April. This is interesting to know, because we want to gain more insight into the cause of the excessive blue-green algae content. That is why we will continue to take measurements during this period. For the time being, we will do this as a pilot project until April 1, 2022.
Because it is outside the swimming season, we do not put up warning signs at the lake if the levels are too high.

Monitoring of swimming water during the summer period
We monitor the quality of the swimming water from April 1 to October 1. We also check for the presence of blue-green algae in the lake. During the summer period, we see blue-green algae returning in excessive amounts. At such times, we advise the province to put up warning signs.
Swimming in surface water
Swimming in surface water always involves risks. Where the quality is good today, it may be poor tomorrow, for example due to a change in wind direction. More information about swimming water
