Schedule and access improvements for Hoornsedijk and Meerweg
The work on Hoornsedijk and Meerweg is being planned carefully and coordinated with other projects in the area.
Obstructions
The water authority is conducting work on the west side of dyke. This work will not result in closures of the dyke.
Obstruction due to work on beaver mesh
Work on the beaver mesh will take place from 31 August to 9 September.
- For this reason, a section of the dyke will be closed on weekdays from 7:00 to 16:00.
- The closure applies roughly to the section between house numbers 17 and 20.
- The dyke will be accessible again after 16:00.
- The dyke is accessible on weekends.

Next: Road closure for asphalt replacement by Groningen Council

The work on Hoornsedijk and Meerweg is being planned carefully and coordinated with other projects in the area.
- August 2026: Preparation and start of work on dyke stabilisation
- Autumn 2026: First phase of beaver mesh installation, combined with roadwork
- December 2026: Preparation and start of work to install beaver mesh on Meerweg
- 2027: Second and, if necessary, third phase of the beaver mesh at Hoornsedijk
