Is this what you're going to do?

You start your day at the office in Groningen with a question from a colleague about a new process that involves the processing of personal data. Privacy hasn’t been taken into account from the start. No problem—you understand that awareness of these issues within the organisation is organisation very much a work in progress. You contribute your insights, explain where the risks lie, and help your colleague set up the process properly.

During an afternoon project meeting, it becomes clear that, under time pressure, a procedure was chosen that does not comply with privacy laws. You engage in a discussion, clarify where the boundaries lie, and make adjustments. In doing so, you connexion lose sight of the connexion . Later in the day, you work with the Data Protection Officer on a notification, conduct a DPIA, and make preparations for an audit.

As Privacy Officer, you serve as the link between legislation and practice. You help colleagues make the right decisions and contribute to the organisation continued professional development. In this way, you play a key role in ensuring secure information management and in fulfilling Noorderzijlvest Water Authority’s social mission: to provide safe, clean, and sufficient water for the residents of our region.

 

What are you going to do?

  • You advise and coordinate: You are the central point of contact for privacy matters within the organisation. Colleagues come to you with questions, and you help them apply the GDPR in a practical and actionable way. You support teams with privacy issues, encourage ownership, and coordinate the implementation of the GDPR within the organisation.
  • You ensure compliance: You fulfils key oversight role and contribute to the careful and lawful processing of personal data. You conduct data protection impact assessments (DPIAs), draft or review data processing agreements, and ensure that the record of processing activities remains up to date. Together with the Data Protection Officer, you investigate data breaches, reports, and requests from data subjects. You also assist with audits and monitor compliance with laws and regulations.
  • You’ll raise privacy awareness: You’ll provide advice, organises , and help teams make privacy a natural part of their daily work. In doing so, you’ll encourage employees to tackle privacy issues with increasing independence. You’ll also continue to build on our privacy growth model: a practical approach that enables us, as organisation , to handle privacy issues organisation maturity.
  • You develop policies and help shape the future: You monitor developments in laws and regulations and translate complex issues into clear guidelines and practical solutions. You contribute ideas for effective policies and propose adjustments when developments call for them. In addition, you provide input for reports to management, executive management, and the board. In this way, you contribute to an increasingly professional privacy organisation help embed privacy sustainably in daily practice.
  • In addition, you will spend approximately 25% of your time in the role of AI Compliance Officer (CAICO). You will advise on the responsible use of AI, identify risks, and support the organisation complying with the requirements of the European AI Act.

  • A salary of up to €5,848 gross per month (scale 10) for full-time employment;

  • HBO+ level of work and thinking, and a completed CAICO program or a willingness to pursue it.
  • At least two years of experience in the field of privacy and the GDPR.
  • Knowledge of current developments in privacy law.

With over 400 employees, we are a professional, decisive, and innovative water authority. As a privacy officer, you will work closely with the Data Protection Officer (DPO), the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), the Information Security Officer (ISO), the executive assistant, and the group controller. Together, you will be committed to ensuring the privacy and information security of Noorderzijlvest Water Authority.
