Public Annual Report 2023

We are proud to present our 2023 public annual report: “The Value of Water.” In this report, we explore the background of our water-management work.

2023 was a remarkable year in which the value of water became abundantly clear

  • Of course, there were the water-authority elections: a higher voter turnout, newly elected political parties on the Board of Directors, and a coalition agreement with strong
ambitions to highlight the value of water. New climate scenarios from the KNMI leave no
doubt about the changing conditions we must face: Summers are becoming
    drier. Winters are becoming wetter.
  • This forecast for the coming years proved accurate right away: 2023 turned out to be one of the wettest years on record. Our water system can handle periods of prolonged rainfall; we can only manage this thanks to the tireless efforts of our people and our machinery.
  • In this annual report, one year after the elections, the new members of the Executive Board and the Dyke Reeve look ahead: Annette van Velde, Herman Beerda, Arie van Wijk, Bert Wiersema, and Roeland van der Schaaf take the reader to various locations throughout the Noorderzijlvest region. For our board members—each in their respective areas of responsibility—these places and their stories illustrate the value of water.
