Court of Auditors
Together with Wetterskip Fryslân, we have an independent Audit Office that investigates the effectiveness of our policy and its implementation. The Audit Office assists our general management in its supervisory role.
Work activities
The Audit Office supports the general management in its supervisory role. This gives the general management and the surrounding area a clear picture of how money is being spent and what is being achieved with all the plans. The Audit Office conducts its investigations on the basis of three points:
- Effectiveness: has the Noorderzijlvest Water Authority achieved what it set out to achieve with its policy?
- Effectiveness: has the Noorderzijlvest Water Authority spent the available funds wisely?
- Legality: has the Noorderzijlvest Water Authority complied with the rules and laws?
The Audit Office independently determines what it wants to investigate and how this will be carried out. It has its own investigation budget. Investigation reports produced under the responsibility of the Audit Office are submitted to the general board. The general board can use the investigation results, conclusions, and recommendations to improve the work of the water board.
Members of the Court of Auditors
The members of the Court of Auditors are independent. The following have been appointed:
- Marjan van der Veen (chair): Marjan has a background in communications/public administration, works as a manager for an implementing organization (central government), and has been chair of a municipal audit office for many years.
- Greet Seinen: Greet has a scientific background in arts and business administration, works as a manager and advisor for the local government, has gained political administrative experience as a member of the provincial parliament, and is a passionate and curious researcher.
- Hilde Tjeerdema: Hilde originally trained as a social scientist, gained political and administrative experience in local politics, and works at the intersection of science, policy, and administration.
