Court of Auditors
Together with Wetterskip Fryslân, we have an independent Court of Auditors that audits the the effectiveness of our policy and its implementation. The Court of Auditors helps our Board of Directors with its supervisory role.
Work activities
The Court of Auditors supports the Board of Directors with its supervisory role. This gives the Board of Directors and the community a clear picture of how the money is being spent and what is being achieved with all the plans. The Court of Auditors performs audits on the basis of three points:
- Effectiveness: has the Noorderzijlvest Water Authority achieved what it set out to achieve with its policy?
- Effectiveness: has the Noorderzijlvest Water Authority spent the available funds wisely?
- Lawfulness: has the Noorderzijlvest Water Authority complied with legislation and regulations?
The Court of Auditors independently determines what it wants to audit and how this will be carried out. It has its own audit budget. Audit reports of the Court of Auditors that are produced under the responsibility of the Board of Directors are presented to the Board of Directors. The Board of Directors uses the audit results, conclusions, and recommendations to improve the work of the water authority.
Members of the Court of Auditors
The members of the Court of Auditors are independent. The following have been appointed:
- Marjan van der Veen (chair): Marjan has a background in communications and public administration, works as a manager for an executive organisation (national government), and was the chair of a municipal audit office for many years.
- Greet Seinen: Greet has a scientific background in arts and business administration, works as a manager and advisor for local government, gained political administrative experience as a member of the provincial parliament, and is a passionate and curious auditor.
- Hilde Tjeerdema: Hilde originally trained as a social scientist, gained political and administrative experience in local politics, and works at the intersection of science, policy, and administration.
