Ulrum treatment plant not operational at the moment

The main circuit breaker at our wastewater treatment plant in Ulrum malfunctioned this morning. This means there is no power at the treatment plant, which is located south of the village along the Hunsingokanals. The treatment plant is currently not operational.

Wastewater collected by truck

The water authority therefore temporarily shut down the pumping stations in the immediate vicinity of this wastewater treatment plant. These pumping stations normally pumping stations the wastewater to the treatment plant. We can pumping stations store the wastewater at these pumping stations . The water authority no chances regarding potential discharges of untreated wastewater into surface waters. The pumping stations are now operational pumping stations to transport the wastewater to the WWTP in Ulrum. Since this afternoon, the wastewater has been collected by trucks from there. This prevents any untreated wastewater from being discharged into surface water.
The wastewater is being transported to the wastewater treatment plant in Garmerwolde. We will continue to do so throughout the evening. There will be additional transport movements from the Ulrum area to Garmerwolde today until the end of the evening and tomorrow during the day.

Time needed to replace the switch; emergency power supply first

The temporary diversion of wastewater via the road gives the water authority to replace the faulty main circuit breaker. Delivering and installing it takes time. The water authority to be able to restore operations at the Ulrum treatment plant tomorrow using an emergency power supply. We expect the new main circuit breaker to be delivered and installed by the end of this week.
