Roeland van der Schaaf is the new chairperson of the STOWA board

On 12 March, our Dyke Reeve Roeland van der Schaaf was appointed as the new chairperson of STOWA. He succeeds Geert-Jan ten Brink, who stepped down after serving the maximum two terms on the board.

What does STOWA do?

STOWA is the knowledge centre for regional water authorities in the Netherlands. STOWA develops, gathers, disseminates, and implements the knowledge needed to address water-related tasks effectively.

A new role

Drawing on his administrative experience and broad perspective on water-related tasks, Roeland focuses on bridging the gap between research and practice. When he was asked to take on the role of chairperson immediately after joining the board as a new member, he didn’t have to think twice. In his role in shaping STOWA’s strategic direction, Roeland highlights the expertise of our region. This aligns with Noorderzijlvest’s ambition to play a more active role in shaping national developments.
