Who can file a claim for damages?

Anyone who has water authority damage water authority by the water authority can file a claim for that damage. 

What do you need? 

  • For personal use DigiD level medium.
  • For organisations with eHerkenning level EH2+.
  • State the amount of damage suffered. Please enclose a quote or invoice for this purpose.
  • State why you believe the water authority is water authority for the damage you have suffered.

How does it work? 

  • Use the damage claim form.
  • There are no costs associated with submitting a claim for damages.

Please state clearly: 

  • Your name and address
  • The amount of the damage substantiated by, for example, a quotation or an invoice
  • The nature of the damage
  • The reasons why you hold the water authority

How does the procedure work? 

  • You will receive confirmation of receipt of your claim.
  • You will then receive a letter explaining the next steps in the procedure.
  • The processing of a claim for damages can take several months. You can read more about processing times in our service standards.
  • Your claim for damages will be water authority by a lawyer from the water authority . In order to properly assess your claim, we may sometimes need to ask you for more information.
  • In some cases, we will forward your claim to our insurer, who will then handle your claim.
  • Does the water authority insurer consider your claim to be (partially) justified? Then we will reimburse your damage in full or in part.
  • If the water authority insurer does not consider your claim to be justified, we will not reimburse your damages.

Disagree with the decision on your claim? 

If you disagree with the decision on your claim for damages, you can take the matter to court.
