Who can submit a claim?

Anyone who has damage caused by the water authority can submit a claim for that damage. 

What do you need? 

  • For personal use: DigiD medium level.
  • For organisations: eHerkenning level EH2+.
  • State the amount of damage suffered. Please enclose a quote or invoice for this purpose.
  • State why you believe the water authority is liable for the damage you have suffered.

How does it work? 

  • Use the claim form.
  • There are no costs associated with submitting a claim.

Please state clearly: 

  • Your name and address
  • The amount of the damage substantiated by, for example, a quotation or an invoice
  • The nature of the damage
  • The reasons why you hold the water authority liable

How does the procedure work? 

  • You will receive confirmation of receipt of your claim.
  • You will then receive a letter explaining the next steps in the procedure.
  • It can take several months to process a claim. You can read more about processing times in our service standards.
  • Your claim will be assessed by a lawyer from the water authority. In order to assess your claim properly, we may need to ask you for more information.
  • In some cases, we will forward your claim to our insurer, who will process your claim.
  • If the water authority insurer considers your claim to be justified in full or in part, we will pay your claim in full or in part.
  • If the water authority insurer does not consider your claim to be justified, we will not pay your claim.

If you disagree with the decision on your claim, you can take the matter to court.
