Ton Baas starts work as formateur

Baas has extensive administrative experience as a former member of the Provincial Executive of Friesland and acting mayor of various councils in Friesland and Drenthe. Baas is no stranger to the water authority. In 2020, he successfully facilitated the process surrounding the “Water Framework Directive Measures for Lake Paterswold” project with the water authority relevant stakeholders in the area. 

Task

The informateur recommended using a broad coalition that includes room for the opposition as a starting point. The first preference is a proposed coalition comprising Water Natuurlijk, BBB, PvdA, Geborgd Natuur, and Student en Water. The formateur’s task is now to determine whether there is sufficient trust among the prospective coalition partners to actually give shape and substance to the collaboration. During the exploratory phase, the parties indicated that they wish to continue working within the frameworks of the existing Blue Environmental Vision and the ongoing Water Management Program.
