Update: Delfzijl dike passages reopened

This morning, Friday, January 2, we closed the dike passages in Delfzijl due to high tide at sea. The water level has now dropped again and all dike passages have been reopened.

Update

The highest water level was ultimately NAP +2.96 meters. This was measured at 10:00 a.m. this morning. The water level has since fallen again and all dike passages have been reopened. No more high water levels are expected at Delfzijl in the coming days.

Start closure

We will start closing the harbor at 6:50 a.m. on Friday. This will result in the temporary closure of the port of Delfzijl. Traffic will be diverted. Once the water has receded sufficiently, the roads will be reopened.  

Closure at NAP +3m or higher 

The dike passages in Delfzijl always close when the expected sea level is NAP +3 meters or higher. The water level of NAP +3.00 meters is expectedon Friday morning around 9:50 a.m. The protocol is to close the dike passages three hours in advance. We carry out the closure together with our colleagues from the Hunze en Aa’s Water Authority.
