Update: Delfzijl dike passages reopened, but we remain on standby

Last night, Friday, November 24, at 4:00 a.m., we closed the dike passages in Delfzijl due to high tide at sea. The highest water level was NAP +3.25 meters. This was measured this morning at 8:50 a.m.

The water level has now dropped to NAP +2.80 meters and we have reopened the dike passages. However, we will remain on standby for the rest of the day, as the water level is expected to rise to between NAP +2.90 meters and NAP +3 meters later this evening. Our colleagues are on standby so that they can act quickly if the water level rises.

The dike passages in Delfzijl are always closed when the expected sea level is NAP +3 meters or higher. We carry out the closure together with our colleagues from the Hunze en Aa’s Water Authority.
