Update: dyke passages reopened, but we remain on standby
This morning, Sunday, 5 October at 6:20, we closed the dyke passages in Delfzijl due to high water at sea. The highest water level was NAP +3.21 metres. This was measured at 11:00 this morning.
Water level dropped
The water level has now dropped to NAP +2.80 metres and we have reopened the dyke passages. However, we will be on standby again from 21:00 onwards, as the water level is expected to rise to between NAP +2.90 metres and NAP +3 metres at the end of the evening. Our colleagues are on standby so they can act quickly if the water level rises.
The dyke passages in Delfzijl always close when the expected sea level is NAP +3 metres or higher. We carry out the closure together with our colleagues from the Hunze en Aa’s Water Authority.
