Update: first round of dyke surveillance went well
Last night, we dyke surveillance a full dyke surveillance in response to high tides at sea. As a precaution, we inspected the sea dyke Lauwersoog to Delfzijl. In Lauwersoog, Eemshaven, and Delfzijl, sections of the flood embankments were flood embankments . In Delfzijl, water also accumulated on the roads near the harbour. This did not result in any dangerous situations.
Any loose debris has been cleared away. No damage to the dyke has dyke . Once it gets light out, we will conduct a second inspection to confirm that there is indeed no damage. We will also check for any debris that needs to be removed.
The highest water level recorded was NAP + 0.02 metre pumping station Drie Delfzijlen pumping station . This was measured around 7:00 a.m. this morning. The water level is now dropping again. We will reopen the dyke passages Delfzijl later today.
