For many activities near dykes, water, and groundwater, you need a permit or must submit a notification.

How does it work? 

You can useEnvironment and Planning Portal  government's onlineEnvironment and Planning Portal  to immediately check whether you need a permit for all kinds of activities in, on, above, or near dykes, watercourses, groundwater, and surface water systems. Examples of activities include: 

  • Extract groundwater
  • Discharge into surface water
  • Ditch filling
  • Constructing a dam or a culvert
  • Erect scaffolding
  • Installing revetment
  • Irrigation

The check takes about five minutes per activity.

How does the procedure work? 

After the permit check, you can Environment and Planning Portal proceed with applying for a permit or submitting a notification via the Environment and Planning Portal .
