Water authority launches 'Your Waterscape' campaign
The long-term Your Waterscape campaign was launched with the unveiling of the first bench at the water authority building on Stedumermaar in Groningen. This campaign highlights the work of Noorderzijlvest Water Authority in an accessible and inspiring way for residents of the region.
Benches
At the heart of the campaign are specially designed benches in the shape of a diving board. These will be placed over time at water-authority facilities such as pumping stations, locks, wastewater treatment plants, and dykes. Each bench is equipped with a recognisable pair of binoculars, the symbol of the campaign. This represents focus, visibility, and experiencing the outside world.
Cycling and walking routes
The benches are the starting point for various cycling and walking routes that residents can follow along important hydraulic-engineering works and roads. Along the way, information boards tell them more about water management and the role the water authority plans in ensuring clean, healthy, safe, and sufficient water.
Your Waterscape
“With this campaign, we are literally bringing our work outside and inviting residents to discover their own waterscape,” says Dyke Reeve van der Schaaf. “We want to show how important it is to work on water and how we can work together to ensure a healthy living environment.”
