Amendment to Water-Authority Regulation definitively adopted
On 23 October 2024, the Board of Directors of Noorderzijlvest Water Authority decided to amend the Water-Authority Regulations in part. No consultation responses were submitted regarding the draft of these amendments, which was available for public consultation for eight weeks.

The most important changes
Activities that require compensation for lost water storage capacity are now subject to a permit rather than a notification requirement. These include, in particular, the filling in, narrowing, excavation, or widening of watercourses.
- The regulations excavation work near pressure pipelines are being relaxed. From now on, a reporting requirement applies only to excavation work near pipelines subject to the Precautionary Measure Requirement. The other regulations duty of care and specific implementation rules) remain in effect for excavation work near all types of pressure pipelines.
- From now on, there will no longer be a protective zone (metre extending inland) around Lake Paterswoldsemeer, because the water authority Lake Paterswoldsemeer does not need to perform maintenance from the shore.
