Is this what you're going to do?
It’s Tuesday morning. You get into your company van at home and drive to a pumping station the Groningen countryside. Once there, you inspect several structural components that need maintenance. You replace damaged hardware, perform minor carpentry work, and repair a section of the masonry. As you work, you watch the pumping station . It’s a remarkable thought: this facility plays a vital role in the region’s water management every single day. Thanks to your work, it continues to function reliably, and you contribute to a safe and livable environment.
The next day is already looking very different. You start at a historic windmill where a window needs to be repaired. Then you drive on to a weir an inspection. Along the way, you briefly check in with your coordinator. At a wastewater treatment plant, it turns out that a structural repair is needed. You adjust your schedule and make sure that work gets done as well.
That’s what makes this job so enjoyable. You’ll work at various locations. One day you might be doing carpentry, the next day masonry, glass installation, painting, or minor plumbing work. You’ll work on modern installations, but also on unique projects with a story behind them. No two days are the same, but at the end of each workday, you’ll see what you’ve accomplished and where your craftsmanship has made a difference.
Here's what you'll be doing
As an All-Around Architectural Maintenance Worker, you’ll ensure that Noorderzijlvest Water Authority s buildings and structures remain Noorderzijlvest Water Authority good condition. Most of your work will consist of scheduled maintenance. You’ll work on pumping stations, weirs, locks, bridges, intakes, wastewater treatment plants, workshops, and historic structures such as windmills, among other things.
Your duties will include carpentry, masonry, painting, and tiling; window installation; hardware installation; minor plumbing work; and conducting inspections. You will log your work in the maintenance system.
You’ll work independently a lot. Of course, you’re not on your own. You’ll be in regular contact with your colleagues and your coordinator. Together, you’ll ensure that the water authority facilities remain water authority , reliable, and well-maintained.
