Newsletter WWTP Westerkwartier. This newsletter is published by the RWZIWesterkwartier project team. As part of this project, a new wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) will be commissioned in Gaarkeuken in 2024. This new STP will replace the current plants in Marum, Zuidhorn, and Gaarkeuken. The new treatment plant will improve water quality in the water authority polderand catchwater system.

The water authority is preparing to build a new wastewater treatment plant in Gaarkeuken, in the council . This plant will replace the existing treatment facilities in Gaarkeuken, Marum, and Zuidhorn. These facilities are severely outdated and in need of replacement. Construction of the new treatment plant in Gaarkeuken is expected to begin in 2022.
